I just released a new EP on Bandcamp. You can listen / download it here.
This is a collection of ideas that have come from several different intents. The initial intent was to create a live gallery / performance with Trevor Richardson back when we lived in LA. Trevor was taking pictures to document fog in Seattle, I was composing based off the photographs, and he was going to bookend the creative process by mixing as well. I sincerely hope that can still happen!
Another intention was to rekindle Litter Aesthetics, which is where “Deluxe” came from. As soon as writing one piece, I felt like it would be better for me to move on to a new concept rather than rehashing the same idea. I do come close to reviving Litter Aesthetics every time I see litter out in the world. I was astonished to see how much litter was in Asheville when we lived there. Nashville too…
Geographically, highlights of the creative process include utilizing field recordings from our visit to Japan, working out of a studio on Boyle Heights located virtual underneath I-10 (not so ideal), recording the vibraphone in Marble Garden while we spontaneously house sat in Cincinnati, and recording on my parents lovely upright in Apex, NC while birds were chirping outside.
